Concerto Della Donna
Harry and I could have spent our time doing any number of things last night but we wandered into a lovely cathedral early yesterday and heard the sound of angels... well, angelic voices, anyway. Concerto Della Donna were in rehearsal for a performance on March 17 at the Christ Church Cathedral later that night.
They take their name from a female voice ensemble of the Italian Renaissance. Based in Montreal, of young singers between the ages of 18 and 26, they've performed here and abroad for the past four years.
They performed Six Songs of Early Canada as well as Autumn Landscapes (Les paysages d'autumne) and Sing Sea to Sea... as well as a number of other lovely works. We were entranced.... Harry in particular. It was a lovely poetic counter to spending the day with the William Kentridge Retrospective at the Musée d'art Contemporain de Montréal.
